The program consists of three major elements:
- Block Connectors – local ‘helpers’ who volunteer to provide a personal and trusted point of connection for the neighbors right on their block. Block Connectors will have the tools, information, resources and ongoing support they need to help their immediate neighbors identify and access resources or opportunities they are interested in receiving.
- A robust local Resource Hub – A dedicated Tosa Connects online website that provides an easily accessed platform for Block Connector’s and individual resident’s to identify and access local services, resources, special interest groups, city information, volunteer opportunities and more.
- A Tosa Connects Coalition – A gathering of representatives from local organizations, city departments, clubs, businesses, and more that provide services, resources, programs, and/or opportunities for community involvement to our Wauwatosa Neighbors. This coalition will help populate the resource hub with comprehensive and up to date information, identify potential new collaborations between members that will enhance their ability to serve local residents, and help address any service or resource gaps identified by the outreach work of local Block Connectors and Tosa Connects program organizers.
Tosa Connect is being developed through a partnership between the Wauwatosa Health Department and the Wauwatosa Neighborhood Association Council. Individual residents are invited to learn more and get involved in this meaningful community program. As a NAC committee this group is welcome to propose projects and initiatives they feel should be developed and promoted under the NAC umbrella and/or by the Wauwatosa Police Department.
